Architectural Walls

Looking for a custom look without tearing down walls or breaking the bank? Do I have some ideas for you! If you’re handy, you can even do these yourself, as my husband and I did. A few tools and paint/staining supplies are all that’s necessary to complete these fun, transformative projects.

Give it Character

Boring hallway? Picture frame moulding will adds interest and depth without overpowering the space. It’s a relatively simple way to make the space feel “designed” and substantial.

Make it stand out

Centering art inside picture frame moulding accentuates the piece and gives the space an intentional look.

Family Focus

Here’s the final product of our family room focal wall. No need for artwork—the wall is the art!

I began by painting the wall . Next, I drew out the design. All the lines are at 45 degree angles from the wall, and they all intersect at 90 degrees (so I can have easy cuts). This should look asymmetric and random, so make sure there is plenty of uneven spacing.

Next, I cut the 1 x2’s to size. Beginning with the outer frame, we installed them with construction adhesive and finish nails. Filled holes and painted!

Basement Landing Project

A little board and batten, some hooks for storage, family photos, and BAM! You’ve got an upgraded basement entry.

Stylish half bath

It’s the bathroom most of the guests use, so why not give it some style? The natural-stained wood compliments the blue-gray walls and adds an organic flare to this modern bathroom. It’s a bit unexpected, with the slats spanning only 2/3 of the wall, then triangulating out. It now becomes a more interesting space.

Master bedroom focal wall

This wall is a bit more traditional with its symmetry and equal-sized rectangles. We framed it, put up the vertical boards, then added the cross pieces.

Ta da!

The final product, a green painted architectural wall, serves as an eye-catching backdrop for the queen sized bed, tables and lights.

Architectural walls add character and substance…

A backdrop for the lives that happen within them.
